YOUTH SPORT ART COMPETITION

Official Contest Rules

    The basic theme of this art contest 2005 is Sport -- football, basketball, racing, track and field, volleyball, etc.

  • Participation in the competition is open to all boys and girls ages 8-18. School
     
    attendance is not a prerequisite for participation in this event. Though this would make a perfect art lesson for teacher, art lesson plan for middle school, kid art idea, elementary art idea, art lesson, art idea, and art theme idea

  • Entries will be divided into three groups:
    Group 1: children ages 8-12 (born in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996)*
    Group 2: children ages 13-15 (born in 1989, 1990, 1991)
    Group 3: children ages 16-18 (born in 1986, 1987, 1988)

  • Artwork must be submitted on any durable white paper for painting or drawing. There is no restriction on choice of technique or media. All entries must be 18” x 24”. Digital entries must be printed on durable paper of the size stated above.

  • Only one entry per participant is allowed. Additional entries will be disqualified.

  • Attention art teachers: Arrangements may be made to pick up or retrieve artwork from ASAMA after the competition by calling Shannon Morris, curator (251) 626-3303.

  • The entry form must be affixed to the back of the art submitted. The form can be also be downloaded by clicking here.

  • Any art that does not comply with the rules will be disqualified upon receipt.

  • The art will be judged by a qualified jury. The judging criteria will be solely at the discretion of the judges and the American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA). The decision of the judges will be final.


    Awards: The winning pieces from Group 1 will be sent on to the International Child Art Foundation in Washington, DC for entry into the 2006-2008 Arts Olympiad. The six winning pieces from each group will receive a cash prize and a plaque. All entries will receive a certificate of participation. The school/art teacher of each gold medal winner will be recognized.

    Student Prizes
    First place: $500
    Second place: $250
    Third place: $150
    Fourth - Sixth places: $50

    Teacher Prizes
    The winning student's teacher will receive a gift certificate for art supplies

     

    Deadline: All art must be received by noon on 1 April 2005. Art received after this deadline will be disqualified. The art show celebrating Youth Sport Art Month (March) will be held 5:30 PM Thursday 7 April 2005.
